Recently

Just a few random things I’ve been up to recently…

We went to Scotland for Christmas – the long way! But it was worth it to see views like this on the way…

We had a lovely time with friends and family…the Wee Man went ice skating for the first time on his birthday…

…and we enjoying a few good dog walks in Lossiemouth…

I tried air-drying clay presents for a few friends and Dylan’s teachers this year…

I knit the Big Man his first pair of socks by me…

I knit something for myself using Noro for the first time…

(It ended up as a long infinity scarf with the addition of some solid coloured merino wool)

And finally…I’ve begun a new design…

Which I will probably go into more detail about once it’s finished!

Happy 2017 to you all!

So Long Mum

My brother was right when he quoted Justin Bieber at Mum’s funeral. “My Mama don’t like you and she likes everyone.” She did like everyone. And everyone liked her. You couldn’t help it.

Here she is in her heyday and beyond…

Her name was Maggie and she is very much missed.

I started knitting her something at the beginning of this year but never got to finish it for her, so I’ve published the pattern and will donate all profits to Marie Curie Cancer Care who looked after Mum so well when she was ill. You can find the pattern here.

I hope Mum would have like it and you do too!

Lots of love, Sarah xxx

Scotland, Halloween and more MITTS

I took The Wee Man to visit relatives in Scotland recently, mainly my Mum as she has been a bit poorly and hasn’t managed to visit us this year. The Wee Man had a great time seeing all his cousins and being thoroughly spoiled by Nana…

We had great fun dookin for apples at Granny’s house

But it’s back to school, work and the old knitting grind now…here’s my latest pattern.

They’re Gabla Mitts and you can buy the pattern in my Ravelry Store. Or have them made to order for you from my Etsy or Folksy shops.

Happy knitting everyone!

Fab Sunday

I used to hate Sundays when I was at school. Now I love them, especially if I can get them just right…like today! It starts with a good mooch around the local car boot sale. No bargains today (but I live in hope). Then a bit of a tidy round the house, put the wood burner on, a nice wee bacon and egg crispy roll and a stroll in the woods with the family…

(Photos 1 & 3 by me, trying out the Big Man’s new DSLR camera, have to say I was a bit scared of it but he held my hand through it…)

Then home and a batch of cupcakes were baked by me and the Wee Man (he actually helped a lot more than he has before)…

Then  I made our favourite coq au vin recipe for dinner while the Wee Man had his first proper Roald Dahl experience as Willie Wonka was on…(Gene Wilder version, sorry Johnny but he’s the best).

Now I just have to fit some knitting in before bed for a perfect day!
